KumarJi had a sparkling personality to go with a sharp intellect. His research garnered international fame and brought the spotlight onto the Department of Chemical Engineering, IISc. His career achievements are many and are well documented here. He was always well-informed of the latest developments and was a lifelong learner. His insightful comment about the essence of Chemical Engineering being a "Service Discipline" to other fields is an eye-opener.

On top of all this, he will remain "Chocolate thaatha" for several generations within the Department, with an abundant supply of "5Star" bars to satisfy the needs of any child/adult. He spread light and joy to all who came in contact and lived true to the adage on his mug "Help Ever, Hurt Never".
